Mardi Gras in Macomb

It will be Mardi Gras madness in Macomb as Campus Recreation hosts their own Fat Tuesday fun in the Spencer Recreation Center.

Battleship is always popular. It will be one of the many free events at Midnight Mardi Gras. Bring a swimsuit!

On Feb. 28, the Rec will be holding it’s annual Midnight Mardi Gras celebration co-sponsored by Substance Abuse and Prevention Education. Save your money on plane tickets. This event is much cheaper (as in, “free”).

There will be plenty to do all the way from event kickoff at 9:00 p.m. until midnight. Feeling smart? Try trivia. Care to showcase your creative side? Maybe you’d like to make a mask. Do you just want to dance? No worries. We’ve got a dance competition too. Participate in as much or as little as you’d like. Other scheduled free events include battleship (see picture), mocktail making (the best in nonalcoholic drinks), a costume contest, and a Twister challenge. Alcohol and Other Drugs will also be providing other activities of their own.

There’s a French saying for Mardi Gras. “Laissez les bons temps rouler!” In English, that phrase translates to “Let the good times roll!” Your good times today will be your memories tomorrow. Don’t miss out.
