Taking up a new hobby can be difficult. It’s even more difficult if it’s strength training.
Starting Feb. 18, the group strength training program being provided through campus recreation seeks to change this notion.
Many individuals just can’t picture themselves in a weight room. They feel like they won’t “fit in” with the crowd. They’re scared of what others might think. If they get over this hurdle, they often get to the gym and they see all of the fancy-looking equipment and think to themselves, “What am I doing here?” Then they do a few sets of arm curls and leave, unsure of what to do next.
Does this sound familiar? It doesn’t have to. Not anymore.
Twice a week, starting next week, Campus Rec certified personal trainers will be working with beginner trainees to introduce them to general weight lifting through group personal training. Best of all, this program is free. If you’re a student, faculty member, or anyone else eligible to use the Spencer Recreation Center, you can sign up at no charge online or through the Campus Recreation office.
This program will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays and will run for six weeks. At the end of the program, participants will feel much more comfortable using the SRC on a regular basis.
